Can you set up a Sleep Number bed yourself?

If you do not want to bother with your own frame or want to use it, but do not feel like you can provide the proper support, you can always purchase one of Sleep Number’s modular bases or FlexFit bases. These can work as a stand-alone, or fit within your own existing bed frame.

How do I transfer a Sleep Number bed to someone else?

Can you put a Sleep Number on a box spring?

A traditional box spring does not provide the support required for a Sleep Number mattress. The firm solid surface offered by a Sleep Number base, platform furniture or slats no more than 2 inches apart is the ideal surface for your Sleep Number mattress.

Which side is which on a Sleep Number bed?

Press the “L” or “R” button on the Sleep Number remote to select your side of the bed. For example, if you sleep on the right side of the bed, press the “R” button. Use the remote to set the Sleep Number to 100, which is the firmest setting.

How do you attach a Sleep Number mattress to the base?

Your mattress attaches to your FlexFit™ base with magnets. If your mattress is sliding off the foot of the base or two or more inches on either side, please check the the magnet attachments. Push the mattress back onto the base to re-align. Lift the corners to make sure the magnet attachments are secure.

Can you attach a headboard to a Sleep Number bed?

If you have a Sleep Number modular base you can purchase headboard and footboard brackets online. Sleep Number Modular Base Legs are required to attach a headboard or footboard to your modular base. For 360 Smart FlexFit adjustable bases or Integrated Base, purchase headboard brackets for Smart Beds.

What year was my Sleep Number bed made?

The Original Number Bed® was produced in 1988 by Craig Miller Sr., then owner of American National.

Can Sleep Number adjustable bases be used with other mattresses?

Although Sleep Number does not recommend it because you lose the smart features, like auto underbed lighting and foot warming, you can use a different mattress on our FlexFit adjustable base. All memory foam and latex foam mattresses that are up to 12 inches in profile, are compatible.

Do you flip a Sleep Number mattress?

We recommend rotating and/or flipping your comfort layers at the same time you flip your top mattress cover. This will help prevent the formation of permanent body impressions in your comfort layer from repeated use in the same area.

Why does my Sleep Number bed sag in the middle?

Because most Sleep Number beds come with two air chambers (so each person can adjust their side to their liking), if one side is significantly more firm or soft than the other, the bed is uneven and is susceptible to sag in the middle.

Do Sleep Number beds have to be plugged in?

Yes, plug in to inflate and leave plugged in if you want the bed to automatically adjust firmness to the selected level. If you don’t want to use this feature, you can unplug the bed after it is inflated and plug in only when you want to top off (add air) or deflate.

How do you remove someone from SleepIQ?

There is no option to delete or remove a sleeper profile. We recommend editing the existing sleeper profile. Edit Sleeper Profile lets you edit name, weight, gender, and answer questions about your sleep habits to help create a more personalized SleepIQ experience.

Is SleepIQ transferable?

Use of the Services or the System is non-transferrable to the new owner of the Bed. The new owner can still use the Bed as a premium-quality, adjustable firmness, air-supported mattress, but use of the Services or the System is not available to the new owner of Your Bed.

Is SleepIQ accurate?

Baselining your bed allows SleepIQ technology to take a pressure reading of the bed with no one in bed, so that SleepIQ can accurately detect when you are in bed.
