Does Care com take a percentage of your pay?

First, Care.com does not take a cut of your pay. Payment and payment details are strictly between you and your employer. We do offer a feature that lets employers pay you online if you want to do that.

Why does care com need my Social Security Number?

Your Social Security Number is used to run your CareCheck. If you do not have a Social Security Number, we will not be able to run your CareCheck. We take your privacy seriously, therefore your information is stored using secure encryption.

If the caregiver is an independent contractor and is paid $600.00 or more in one calendar year, then the employer would be required to give the caregiver a form 1099-MISC, which is a miscellaneous income reporting of what has been paid to the caregiver. The employer must keep the Form I-9 for his records.
