One question we sometimes get asked is should I leave my hot tub on all the time? The answer is yes! Hot tubs are designed to be left on permanently and this is how they work best. Of course, they’ll need to be drained regularly but for the most part, they are left on 24/7.
Can I turn my lazy spa off at night?
Can I leave the spa on all the time? The spa can be left on, if the heater function is left on, the pump unit will maintain the temperature of the water for you. Please note that if the pump unit is not touched for a period of 72 hours the heater will switch off.
How does a lazy spa timer work?
To do this you would:
Press the timer button on your pump and set the heat duration to 6 hours.Press the timer button on your pump again and the set the timer to 22 hours (This is when your Lay‑Z‑Spa will start heating).Once the heater has heated for 6 hours it will stop heating and will not automatically reset.
Do lazy spas use a lot of electric?
Based on an average pattern of using the hot tub for: Three to four times a week. 30 to 45 minutes a time. On an energy tariff of around 12-13p per kWh.
Do I keep my lazy spa on all the time?
Yes, you can. If you are planning on using your Lay‑Z‑Spa frequently, we recommend leaving the pump and filter on all the time as this is the most cost‑effective in the long run. This maintains the heat of the water and it will ensure the filter is constantly filtering the spa’s water.
How long should a spa pump run per day?
Since your hot tub pump circulates the warm water as well as the sanitizer, a general rule is to follow manufacturer recommendations or leave the pump on for a minimum of eight hours per day.
What temperature should you keep your hot tub when not in use?
While it may sound like common sense to turn your hot tub down every time it is not in use, it’s actually better to maintain a constant soaking temperature, which is typically around 100° Fahrenheit for many people.
Should Jets be on when heating hot tub?
Before covering your hot tub, make sure to turn on the jets as this will accelerate the pace of your hot tub’s heating. By running the jets, you’re allowing the heated water to be circulated and evenly distributed to all areas of the hot tub.
How much chlorine do I put in my lazy spa?
A chlorine level of between 3-5mg/l must be maintained in your hot tub at all times. The addition of chlorine will depend upon usage and bathing habits. It could be daily or every 2-3 days (for 1mg/l add 2g per 1000 litres).
How long do lazy spa filters last?
It is recommended the filters are changed every 3 days. Make sure to clean the filter after each use.
Are Lazy spas expensive to run UK?
We estimate it costs around £7 ‑ £10 a week* to run a Lay‑Z‑Spa based on average usage**. We are continually developing our hot tubs to be as cost‑efficient as possible. For example, every Lay‑Z‑Spa from 2017 onwards includes the Power Saving Timer and all models from 2021 includes Freeze Shield™.
