Should you broil or bake pizza?
The technique I always use is the Broiler Method, which combines convection bake and the broiler to give your pizza the perfect color on top and a crispy crust. Place Baking Steel on the top rack of the oven and preheat on convection bake for one hour at 500 F. Take your pizza out of the oven and enjoy!
Can you cook a pizza under the broiler?
The only equipment you’ll need is a cast-iron skillet and your oven’s broiler. A pizza slides on top of the pan’s underside, and goes under the broiler for just 1 minute and 35 seconds. It comes out cooked through and bubbling, with artfully charred edges and crust (right) and a chewy inside. And you’ll be amazed.
How long should I broil a pizza?
This ensures that direct heat is aimed at cooking the toppings the entire time the pizza is in the oven. Bake then broil to preheat, bake then broil to cook. About 7 minutes in total to a finished pizza.

Can you cook pizza on aluminum pan?
Because a pizza cooked on an aluminum pan doesn’t get the thermal boost that a pre-heated stone offers, I expected right off the bat that it would take longer to bake. Still I checked the pie after eight minutes (that’s how long an identical pizza took to bake on a stone).
Can you broil in a gas oven?
If you have an oven heated with natural gas, the broiler is usually the drawer below the oven. To be sure, pull open the door. There will be a broiler pan (a two-piece metal pan with slits in the top) if the drawer is a broiler.
What’s the difference between broiling and baking?
Broiling uses only top-down heat to completely cook delicate food or just crisp and brown the top of already-cooked dishes. Baking uses moderate temperatures to cook food. Heating elements on the top, bottom and sometimes the back of the oven are used for an all-over cooking method.
Does broil need to preheat?
Like every fire, every broiler has its quirks and peculiarities. First, always preheat the broiler for at least five minutes; ten is better. Second, as with the grill, choose relatively thin and tender ingredients to cook. Fish steaks and fillets, chicken pieces and steaks and chops all fit the bill.
Can you Broil at 400?

Is 500 degrees the same as Broil?
Grilling and Broiling
Grilling temperatures usually range from 375–450°F (190–232°C). In broiling, the heat source comes from above, such as the broiler in your oven. Broiling occurs at very high temperatures, typically 500–550°F (260–288°C).
